PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT'S DIAGNOSIS OF THE RIBEIRÃO SÃO LOURENÇO'S WATERSHED - ITUIUTABA / MG

Abstract

The objective of this study was to diagnose the environmental variables in the Ribeirão São Lourenço’s Watershed. Thematic maps of hypsometry, slope, soil and land use and native vegetation cover were elaborated. The map of land use and native vegetation cover was correlated with the other maps trough cross tabulation. The classes of natural vegetation are at altitudes above 600m, predominantly on reds latosols and slopes of 3 to 20. Classes of anthropic use occur predominantly at altitudes below 600m, in slopes of up to 8% and reds latosols. The geoprocessing techniques used in this study allowed quick and accurate responses on the survey of the physical environment, these results are important subsidies in the planning and management of watersheds.
