COMMUNITY TOURISM: A MOVE TOWARDS LOCAL DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
This article aimed to analyze the challenges and possibilities of tourism in the perspective of contributing to local development. Tourism has been the central issue of the developmental discourse of the public and private sectors, whose purpose is the insertion of this activity in communities, municipalities and regions intending to solve socioeconomic problems, but the results perceived are mainly economic growth, thus distancing the possibility of contributing to local development. Therefore, in order to confront the developmentalist approach is the community-based tourism, based on planning and management. For the current analysis, a bibliographic survey was carried out initially and field work afterwards. The conclusions obtained may support the understanding of public policies, particularly in the context of tourism planning.
