ANALYSIS OF SMALL ECONOMIC AND POPULATIONAL MUNICIPALITIES THROUGH SOCIAL INDICATORS
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the social evolution of municipalities installed in the 1990s through social indicators. The territorial cut corresponds to the area of the Association of Municipalities of Vale do Ivaí - Amuvi. The municipalities installed in the 1990s are: Arapuã, Ariranha do Ivaí, Cruzmaltina, Godoy Moreira, Lidianópolis, Mauá da Serra, Rosario do Ivaí and Novo Itacolomi. The indicators were analyzed using the following socioeconomic indices: Firjan Municipal Development Index, Municipal Human Development Index and the Social Exclusion Index. Older data were compared with the most recent data of each locality, showing the evolution of the municipalities in areas that will be specified in the economic or social aspects. The use of indicators can establish strategies for territorial development and development, in the case of this article using the local scale as an object, especially demographically small municipalities. However, as no direct data obtained through field research were used, we point out that the indicators cannot be established as absolute truth, as each locality must have particular attention. It is necessary to know each locality, where other factors besides those known by the indicators can be evidenced as influencers in the development of the local society.
