PHOTOGRAPHY, CONTEXT AND ANALYSIS IN TEACHING AND RESEARCHING GEOGRAPHY
Abstract
This article deals with the use of photography in teaching and researching Geography from scientific productions the result of research carried out from 2009 to 2018, by the author, under the guidance of professors who work with Geography Graduate Programs. The study demonstrates that photography makes it possible to explore the theoretical categories of analysis of Geography: by assisting in the interpretation of geographic space, when capturing the concepts conceptions used by the researched subjects; by representing the real and the symbolic of the study area. Thus, photography is considered as a possibility to discuss teaching and research in Geography. Thus, this study allows us to conclude that photography adds to teaching and research methodological conditions to overcome the perspective of using the photographic image as an illustration.
