Abstract

The place and the function of the peasantry in the contemporary world bring to the geographic debate countless social questions, this effort requiring a wide and concrete interpretation about the relations that involve as much as the urban space as the rural one. The challenge put into this study came from this consideration, in other words, a discussion between the farmer and the non-farmer while parts of unique totalitarian scenario, opening possibilities of comprehension to symbols and pratics peasants in the fields of the geogaphic microregions of Faxinal/PR. The peasants capacity of perpetuate as social agentes in the field and with significant autonomy (relative) in lots of aspects in their routine it based in the self-consumption agriculture pratic, which doesn’t mean only and exclusively in the aliment supply (food), but for supply of a series of local needs, that are autonomously discussed and decided by the collectivity and will of the own peasants. That’s why the peasantry it’s not fully understood when being analized in a fragmented way and much less when considered isolated of the urban space, because the smallest or largest integration of the agrarian capital doesn’t caracterize their social condition, therefore, what guides the peasant essence and ensures the reproduction of it’s familiar units are the many typical strategies of the self consumption agriculture, among others aspects like the consideration of the land as familiar patrimony, the concern with the ambiental conservation and the autonomy of the productive process.
