THE OCCUPATION OF THE COUNTRY OF SOUTHWEST PARANÁ FROM SOCIAL MOVEMENTS AND THE STRUGGLE OF RURAL WORKERS
Abstract
The social and economic characteristics of the rural South West of Paraná were marked by the strength of rural workers in different historical periods latest. In the 1950s, by movements of occupation from the organization of workers against the squatters Land Companies who settled in the region to carry out exploration buildings, which in 1957 triggered the revolt of the settlers. In the decades from 1960 to 1980, the resistance of farmers due to implementation of the technology package imposed by the governments of the military regime, which led to the deletion process of thousands of rural workers from their land, because he could not withstand the changes imposed by a new agricultural model for the country. Contrasting models of space occupation imposed sudoestino, social movements and the workers fought for the maintenance of rural land through their own strength in rural areas, with training camps and settlements of the landless, which allowed the South West of Paraná maintain specific features of the region of diversified farming and the predominance of family farming.
