HOSPITALIZED ANALYSES DUE TO RESPIRATORY DISEASES IN PATIENTS LIVING IN MARINGA-PARANÁ AREAS
Abstract
The objective of this study was to analyze the absolute number of hospitalizations due to respiratory diseases, in patients living in Maringá, between the period from 2000 to 2007. Hospitalizations were analyzes by distingued groups of causes, sex, age, deaths and Municipal Areas. It was used the incidence rate, typically used in researches involving people and diseases in general. The results showed that the age group between 0-4 and with more than 70 years, is highly vulnerable to this disease, then it is highlighted the aged group of 5-9 and 60-69 years. In all groups of causes of hospitalization due to respiratory diseases, the largest amount was found in cases of males with 54,7% and in females 45,3%. The highest predominance was of influenza {flu} and pneumonias (J10-J18), accounting for 59,1% of the records and the least amount was for other diseases of the upper airways, with 1,5%. Based on the done investigations, it was found that respiratory diseases in Maringá reach all social classes, observing a higher intensity in the Municipal Areas in densely populated areas as for example in the 7, 23, 24, 36 and 37 areas, in which the number of admission was between 933 to 1.772 registered, in these areas there is a population between 12.859 to 23.874 inhabitants. In this sense, the research tried to show the importance of knowing the types of respiratory diseases spatially distributed, helping the health care workers.
