Abstract

This article aims to make a spatial analysis and evaluation of socioeconomic vulnerability to the risk of Violent Lethal Intentional Crimes (CVLI) in Pernambuco. For this, we analyze the variables population density, poverty rate, Gini coefficient, illiteracy and Municipal Human Development Index, as well as data on homicide, robbery and bodily injury followed by death, year 2012, 2013 and 2014, in the State of Pernambuco. Through Estimator method of Kernel Density we visualize the spatial distribution and intensity of CVLI in Pernambuco, for the analysis of socioeconomic vulnerability by municipality, we use the multi-criteria analysis, AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process). As a result, we find that the CVLI have a strong pattern of spatial concentration mainly in the Metropolitan Region of Recife and socioeconomic variables chosen for this study were not sufficient to explain together the strong presence of CVLI in this region and, in addition, other factors can be influencing this type of crime. But the Agreste of the State presented high socioeconomic vulnerability and also the presence of CVLI, leading to consider the socioeconomic variables as relevant to the presence of the crimes.
