THE VERTICALIZATION PROCESS OF THE BRAZILIAN CITIES: CONCEPTUAL LEGACY AND FORWARDING
Abstract
The verticalization process is an important subject for the understanding of Brazilian urbanization, since there was a great theoretical-methodological effort, emphasizing here the importance of the research carried out by Cesar Miranda Mendes in the spectrum of Urban Geography. We have developed some essays about the theoretical perspective developed by him and several researchers and point out some guidelines for future research. The hypothesis we present is that verticalization must be understood within the logic of expanded reproduction of capital, since the most recent strategies and actions on the production of this type of enterprise are increasingly inserted within the logic of the commercialization-financialization of the city.
