CONTRIBUIÇÕES DO(A) GEÓGRAFO(A) À POLÍTICA PÚBLICA DE ASSISTÊNCIA SOCIAL NO MUNICÍPIO DE PAIÇANDU-PR
Abstract
This article intends to show how the geographer can contribute to the Public Policy of Social Assistance, especially in management processes. The methodology used was developed in 2010 by research carried out by the Center for Studies and Social Exclusion for Public Policies (Cemespp), at Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp), which consists of using public statistics to construct 10 simple social indicators and a summary indicator (Social exclusion/inclusion). Statistical data for the city of Paiçandu-PR were obtained from the IBGE database (2010 Demographic Census) and later organized into spreadsheets. The cartographic representations were made in the QGIS software. Mapping was also carried out using the Paiçandu database provided by the Municipal Secretary of Social Assistance-PR with information from CadÚnico on the Bolsa Família social program. The results revealed that the cartographic identification of areas that accumulate great social disadvantages can help the public policy manager to analyze social priorities and demands, in addition to highlighting the geographer as a professional capable of improving social protection and cooperating for the strengthening of citizenship.
