THE IMPORTANCE OF GREEN AREAS IN PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES IN THE TOWN OF MANDAGUARI-PR
Abstract
This essay represents a study on the importance of green areas for public health services in the town of Mandaguari-PR. From studies on the territories covered by the Basic Health Units (BHU), the progress of research on this topic led to an investigation on the embedded potentialities in the territory, such as green areas, which can act as a support for the SUS users’ quality in treatments. This survey, which is investigative, was performed with use of questionnaires in the communities which use 6 of the UBS in Mandaguari, seeking the relations between the green areas and the health services. According to the results, the user population of the services devotes little time during the week to leisure, because people consider themselves as home-loving, or ones who work hard, study or take the time to take care of their family members; in addition, they have few options of green areas in the town, in which the only reference is Parque da Pedreira. However, the population is aware of the importance of contact with the green for the prevention of health, believes in the welfare and quality of life afforded by green public spaces.
