CLIMATE DYNAMICS AND THE NEEDS OF VINE: CASE STUDY MARIALVA - PR
Abstract
The grape originated in Europe grows best in temperate climate. The climate IN Marialva is of transition between climates Tropical and Subtropical. The climatic characteristics of the region favor the holding of two annual harvests of grapes, the former being called a normal harvest, held between the months of June to November and the second, called "off season", between the months of January to May. The present study aimed to compare the values of the time series of climatological region Marialva with the climatic requirements of the vine during the normal growing season. To achieve the goal, the elements temperature, precipitation, humidity and sunlight in the time series between the years 1980 and 2009 were compared with the requirements of the vine by phenological stage (budding, flowering, berry development and maturation). After the comparison it was found that, even under some adverse conditions, the productivity of the region has proved satisfactory.
