THE PARQUE DO POVO IN PRESIDENTE PRUDENTE-SP: geographics reflections

Abstract

We seek in this study contribute to the debate on the links between the production of public space Parque do Povo which is located in the city of Presidente Prudente - SP. We have proposed, through this study, reflect on the socio-spatial practices that guide the establishment of relations between public space and private space in search of better understanding the production of urban space in general and in particular the public space of the Parque do Povo. We seek therefore to have a discussion about some considerations about the production of public space, for a second time, working with the deployment of public space of the Parque do Povo in Presidente Prudente - SP. Soon thereafter, we discuss the public space, listing historical issues, its role in current society. Finishing with elements that make us think about the theme and not presenting only closed answers and ready. Likewise, we observed and reflected on some agents and social subjects, who have contributed to the production, deployment and ownership of public space of the Parque do Povo. Are key points of the study: the production of public space by different social actors, their different meanings for people who live in Presidente Prudente; consumption of public space and public space in the Parque do Povo; possible specificities found in the current process of producing this public space, its historic features and space in contemporary society current.
