Abstract
Morphometry studies in hydrographic basin are characterized as important for understanding the local dynamics instruments, and to implement initiatives for environmental management and water resources. This study aims to expose paths to perform morphometric analyzes in basins, with the use of GIS, presenting as an example the morphometric study of the basin of the creek Açaizal - MA. It is used this way, methods of analysis and obtaining parameters in ArcMap version 10.1, besides, data from the TOPODATA/INPE project. Among the results presented, stand out, referring to the hierarchy of the basin, the obtained indices comprising the areal analysis, linear analysis and hypsometric analysis, allowing us to know, among other aspects, the dimensions of the basin, its form, the hypsometric curve the main river and river density. It is concluded that the studies supported by GIS analysis tools provide great potential to search in short time. However, it is essential to have knowledge of the field study area.Downloads
