Abstract

This study aimed to identify and diagnose the occupational risks involved workers collectors of solid waste in the municipality of Mamborê-PR, located in West-Central Mesoregion. This is a group of solid waste collectors workers hired by the municipal government, responsible for urban cleaning of the city. The methodology used was systematic observation, to describe the work processes, participation in route collection and individual interviews with everyone involved. With interviews and direct observations, it was possible to identify: the work regime, infrastructure, equipment provided by the city and the perception of these workers in relation to this activity. It was observed that the factors that contribute to accidents at work are: personal protective equipment deficiencies (EPI); accelerated pace of work and neglect of residents regarding the disposal of waste for collection. The main effects observed were: cuts, injuries, falls, constant exposure to biological and physical agents and ergonomic problems.
