Abstract

Among the various changes in the territorial dynamics that the sugarcane sector (sugar, alcohol and electric energy production) imposed when setting up in the Triângulo Mineiro region, is the form and intensity of land use and the valorization of the lands of the municipalities that cultivation of cane in extensive areas. This valorization is due to a complex web of interests and conjunctural factors that intertwine, producing a series of new territorial implications in the region. In the present research were selected 13 municipalities of the Triângulo Mineiro that had significant agricultural territorial specialization with sugarcane, sugar and ethanol production. These municipalities were chosen because they received at least one productive unit (plant), were not very populous, and their economy depended greatly on the production of cane and its derivatives. It is from the evaluation of the production in these municipalities that we intend to relate it to the significant increase in the price of the land (besides that due to other factors).
