IDEOLOGY: A SOCIOLOGICAL CONCEPT IN GEOGRAPHICAL STUDIES
Keywords:
Geography, Geographic space, Ideological Perspective.
Abstract
This article aims to carry out a theoretical analysis of the ideology and its possibilities within Geography, it is necessary to approach the relevance of the term within the scope of geographic science. Geography, since it is generally the scientific area that deals with studies that interrelate human action with the Earth, would not, in principle, be able to use that concept, since ideology is associated, by different authors, with considerations the world of ideas, not geographic space, object of study and essence of Geography. However, this work will seek to identify ideological influences that materialize in the geographic space, thus demystifying such a point of view. As a methodology of analysis, we adopted the dialectical critical perspective and as a research methodology, we used secondary theoretical readings that approach the concept of ideology and, to a lesser degree of depth, references that deal with geographic space. From the proposed conceptual interrelationship, it was found that several theorists have dealt with ideology through its material and consequently geographical consequences, but it is little used as a study tool in Geography.Downloads
