Abstract
Throughout 2020-2021 Brazil went through a long process of combating the spread of Covid-19 in the national territory, many sanitary measures were adopted, in addition to social distance and touch to reduce circulation and agglomeration. These measures were of fundamental importance to reduce the cases of contamination and spread of the virus, other questions were raised in relation to the touch of collecting, among them - if the same time in reducing the homicide rate? Thus, this work proposed to answer this question in the Metropolitan Region of Maringá, based on data provided by the Secretary of Security of the State of Paraná in the period established between March / 2019 - February / 2020 and March / 2020 - February / 2021, making it possible to compare data before pandemic and during the pandemic when the select touch was in effect. Based on the data, it was possible, even with the measures of social distancing and collection touch, there was no reduction in homicides in the Metropolitan Region of Maringá, reinforced even with an increase without an absolute number when compared to the year before the pandemic.
