Abstract
ABSTRACT: The taxonomic and ichthyofaunistic diversity of the Paranavaí stream was investigated, through electric fishing, in seven locations, distributed along the hydrographic route of the Paranavaí Ribeirão (Paranavaí/PR), in the four annual seasons of 2016, making a total of 28 samples. Fifty-one fish species from 38 genera, 17 families and six orders were identified (Characiformes, Siluriformes, Gymnotiformes, Cyprinodontiformes, Synbranchiformes and Perciformes), with the orders Characiformes and Siluriformes being the most expressive. In the order Characiformes, the families Characidae and Erythrinidae stood out; among the Siluriformes, the families Loricaridae and Heptapteridae and in Gymnotiformes, the family Gymnotidae. Autochthonous species predominated (94.12 %), especially with the presence of endemics, followed by allochthonous and an exotic species. The largest number of individuals captured occurred in autumn. In general, the number of species was similar in the different collection points, except near the urban area, where the capture was lower. The basaltic biogeographic barrier allowed the concentration of the largest number of fish collected in the sample.
