Abstract
ABSTRACT: This paper analyzes the relevance of establishing a campus of a federal university in the city of Apucarana, considering its impacts on territorial occupation and land use. The research highlights the importance of the presence of higher education institutions in the socioeconomic development of urban regions, focusing on the direct and indirect benefits provided by the installation of a university campus. The analysis covers issues such as the growth of territorial occupation resulting from the presence of students and faculty, the dynamization of the local economy through commerce and services catering to the academic community, and the effects on urban infrastructure. By exploring geospatial and socioeconomic data of the city of Apucarana before and after the installation of the university campus, the article seeks to provide a comprehensive view of the effects of academic presence in the region. It is concluded that the campus installation contributes to educational advancement and plays a significant role in transforming territorial occupation and land use in Apucarana, promoting balanced and sustainable development, albeit with reservations regarding future planning.
