Abstract

Sustainability is a global principle aimed at balancing development with preservation to ensure that future generations can benefit from the same resources, encompassing not only social aspects but also environmental and economic considerations. Companies, aware of this imperative, seek sustainable practices such as certifications and green seals to validate their commitment to the environment. Among these certifications, ISO 14001 stands out as an international standard for Environmental Management Systems that provides guidelines for organizations to minimize environmental impacts by promoting responsible practices. It reinforces the importance of sustainability and the implementation of an environmental management system, utilizing tools like the PDCA cycle to assist in the implementation of these certifications, raising quality standards, bringing financial benefits, and eventually enhancing the company's image in relation to the environment.
