A GEOGRAFIA DA FOME E DA POBREZA NO MUNICÍPIO DE BANDEIRANTES-PR
Abstract
Hunger appears as a reflection of individuals’ difficulty in obtaining basic social rights, outcome of the inequality in the access of income and opportunities in society, affecting millions of people. In this context, this research has the objective to analyze the Geography of Hunger and Poverty in the city of Bandeirantes-PR in the period of 2004 to 2023. Methodologically, this study was conducted through qualitative-quantitative research, involving a theoretical investigation based in article and books, secondary data survey in government’s agencies and the use of mathematical formulas to determinate the percentage of people assisted by the “Bolsa Família” Program and registered in the Single Registry (“Cadastro Único”). In 2023, the city of Bandeirantes-PR had 55,58% of its inhabitants registered at the “Cadastro Único”, which is equivalent to families that support themselves with a maximum of six hundred and sixty “reais” per month. Within this percentage, only 12,79% benefited from the “Bolsa Família” Program, leaving 43,09% without any other type of assistance. Therefore, it becomes essential the implementation of public policies aimed at fighting hunger and poverty, providing food security, economic development, education, access to health, housing, employment and income.
