Abstract

This study investigates the importance of green areas in the qualification of urban spaces, analyzing how these spaces contribute to the vitality, legibility, and well-being of users. The overall aim of the research is to understand the importance of the distribution of green areas in the urban morphological composition to qualify urban spaces. To achieve this, the research is based on an extensive literature review on urban morphology and the historical evolution of urbanism, with an emphasis on movements such as the Park Movement and the Conservation Movement. This research contributes to scientific and structural urban production by providing correlated data between the qualification of urban spaces, the morphology of urban green areas, and the perceptive and modifying capacity of users. The research concludes that the qualification of urban space improves users' perception of the city, and the inclusion of green areas is an effective tool for such qualification. However, it is emphasized that these green areas must also be qualified to ensure their full use and positive impact. Equity in the distribution of urban spaces and social justice are essential aspects, promoting the right to the city and, consequently, improving the quality of life for users.
