WATER QUALITY IN THE RURAL AREA OF THE CITY OF NOVA AMÉRICA DA COLINA-PR.

ANALYSIS OF TOTAL COLIFORMS, ESCHERICHIA COLIA AND TURBIDITY PARAMETER

Abstract

Groundwater contamination is a highly relevant and very discussed theme nowadays due to the increase in demand and the search for alternatives to find potable water. Thus, the goal of this research is to analyze the total coliforms, the presence of Escherichia Coli and the turbidity parameter in the springs of the rural area of Nova América da Colina – PR. The methodology adopted for this research was basically bibliographical research, sample collects of the springs that were analyzed in the laboratory of the 18th Health Regional Center of Paraná in Cornélio Procópio, field work, and as well the mapping and investigation of the surroundings of the springs. Therefore, this work concludes not only with the demonstration that the analyzed springs contains water unfit for the human consumption, but also, shows that there are ways to recover or improve the quality of those waters, aiming at the well-being and health of the population that drinks this water.
