5S METHODOLOGY IMPLANTATION IN THE RESEARCH LABORATORY OF A PUBLIC UNIVERSITY FROM PARANÁ STATE GOVERNMENT
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present the results of the implementation of the 5S methodology for productivity improvement, work optimization and safety of a public university research laboratory. The method of study applied was action research. Data collection was performed through questionnaires, brainstorming sessions, audits and non-systematic observations of the researcher. A working model was defined to create a 5S structure and an implementation process was established. With the implantation of the 5S methodology, the laboratories adapted the necessary safety and health conditions and incorporated an organization routine. The activities began to be carried out with greater ease and practicality, improving the work environment, and consequently, increasing the productivity of the group. The success of the 5S implantation is directly related to the involvement of all the students and teachers, who incorporated the 5S culture in the group, and the top management that provided autonomy for the researcher to implant the improvements
