Abstract

This study aims to compare results obtained via experimental tests and analytical method for the dynamic response (natural frequencies) of a steel hollow section beam for different concrete-filled configurations. Six different configurations are considered herein: steel hollow section beam with no concrete-filled; steel concrete-filled hollow beam with release agent applied on the interface steel-concrete; steel concrete-filled hollow beam without release agent applied on the interface steel-concrete; concrete-filled hollow beam with one rebar layer on the bottom side; concrete-filled hollow beam with two rebar layers on the bottom side; concrete-filled hollow beam with connected concrete slab. The results were presented in terms of the parameter named Frequency Response Function (FRF). It was seen that the results obtained via experimental tests and analytical formulation showed a good correlation between them. The results for the hollow steel-box beams with no concrete filled showed a significant different dynamic response in comparison with the other types of beams, as expected. All concrete filled beams presented similar results in terms of their dynamic responses.
