Caiuá geological formation represents 15% of the state of Paraná area, Brazil, from which 70% are covered with pasture. Soils originated from Caiuá sandstone present low acidity and fertility. Aiming to evaluate the field nutritional condition of these soils, 49 farms were chosen to carry out a comparative study of 201 soil samples of pastures, annual crops and perennial crops in the Inhacanga (Altônia) and Cigarras (Alto Paraná) rivers basins, April through August, 1990. This survey showed that the pastures contained higher K and carbon content when compared to perennial and annual crops. The pastures and annual crops showed low P content in the soil. Higher soil acidity in perennial crops was attributed to nitrogenated fertilizers. The annual crops used to recover pastures showed lower soil fertility in relation to pasture and perennial crops.Downloads
