Synthetic milk effluent (COD = 380mg/L) was treated in a biological three-phase fluidized bed reactor (solid, liquid, gas). Polymeric particle (PVC) were used as support for the microbian growth after superficial treatment with DOP plasticizer and nitric acid aiming at a better development of the biofilm. Adhesion and retention of biomass were monitored by analyzing the protein (PN) and the polysaccharide (PS) contents. The results showed that the reactor was highly efficient for residuum treatment about 89% of the organic substance was removed in 40-minute hydraulic retention time. The superficial treatment of the support particles contributed to a higher adhesion and retention rate of the microorganisms.Downloads
