EFFECT OF TRIADIMENOL AND BENZILAMINOPURINE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF <em>IN VITRO</em> SPROUTS OF CV. <em>CATUAÍ</em> COFFEE TREE

Abstract

This work was carried out at the tissue culture laboratory of the Universidade Federal de Lavras - Ufla, aiming to evaluate the effect of the triadimenol fungicide and its interaction with benzilaminopurine (BAP) on the coffee sprout proliferation (Coffea arabica L.) in vitro. The experimental design used complete randomized samples in a 4x4 factorial scheme (0, 100, 200 and 400 mg/l of triadimenol and 0, 3, 6 and 9 mg/l of BAP), with 4 tubes per parcel and one explant per tube. The vegetable material used was Coffea arabica L. cv. Catuaí sprouting from the culture developed in vitro. The evaluation was made 120 days after the inoculation: the total number of sprouts, the number of sprouts bigger or equal to 1 cm and the weight of dry matter of the aereal part were determined. The interaction between the triadimenol fungicide and BAP was significant, however the greatest number of sprouts and the highest weight of dry matter were found in the concentration of 9 mg/l BAP without triadimenol. As for the number of sprouts bigger or equal to 1 cm, only triadimenol affected the sprouts, thus the increasing concentration of the product, in the culture medium, caused reduction in the size of the sprouts.
