Abstract

A multivariate analysis applying different non-hierarchical methods, such as simple linkage, complete linkage and Ward’s, to cluster homogenous rainfall series, was used in Aspectos Geográficos da Precipitação do Paraná (Geographical Aspects of Rainfall in the state of Paraná). It resulted in five regional cluster taking into account the total monthly data, covering a 30-year period, collected at 37 stations run by Departamento Nacional de Água e Energia Elétrica - DNAEE, in the state of Paraná. The regional clustering proposed by Nery et al. was applied to the present study, for which one station from each cluster was elected. The 1950-1992 series was analyzed by applying the method proposed by Estienne and Godard to each station in order to obtain a monthly coefficient. Mean, standard deviation and variation coefficient were used as statistical parameters.
