Abstract

The aim of this article is to investigate how Brazilian society and its social problems are seen today through rap and hardcore. I search to analyze and discuss how some social sectors see and experience with Brazilian reality and build significations which interpret and criticize it based on these sectors everyday experiences, be it as musicians, workers or social marginalized individuals. For that, I recur to theories and methodologies which have been developing in the field of the relationships among music, society, history, and culture. In a time of neoliberal hegemony, it means to articulate text and context, emphasizing the dissonant voices that emerge from diverse social sectors as a youth sound symbol, above all of the working classes.
