Síndrome de Kearns-Sayre associada com Insuficiência Respiratória Aguda: Relato de Caso

Abstract
This is a case report of a patient with a previous diagnosis of Kearns-Sayre syndrome who presented with acute respiratory failure (ARF) associated with a SARS-CoV-2 infection. The aim of the study is to expand the literature on this syndrome and its repercussions, as well as its associations with infectious conditions. The patient was admitted to the Regional University Hospital of Maringá between June 2023 and February 2024. An informed consent form was obtained, and the report was approved by the COPEP-UEM. As a result, we seek to highlight the need for vigilance in patients with Kearns-Sayre syndrome in infectious scenarios, paying attention to potential decompensations associated with the genetic diagnosis.
