Um debate sobre visualidades dos anos 1950

Abstract

In the aftermath of the Second World War, young people emerged who, unlike the older generations, had more opportunities and better economic conditions. In contrast, these were young people who, faced with a conflict that had killed thousands of Americans, including young people, wanted to enjoy life, but at the same time challenge the moral values impregnated in society. For many years, the youth phase was minimized, i.e. childhood and adulthood existed in many societies, but the young people of the 1950s, who were called teenagers, totally detached themselves from invisibility in discussions and in the social/economic/cultural context to become objects of enormous desire for the market system. The aim of this article is therefore to discuss the visualities of teenagers in the 1950s.
