Abstract

This paper deals with some of the modern houses built in Maringá during the 50´s and 60´s, which show the Modern Movement Architecture formal aspects. Based on the principles of Modern Movement Architecture, this paper collected 50 designs, registered by sketches, photographs and pictures in order to analyze the similarities, differences and above all the distortions Modern Architecture has suffered in those buildings. What one could see is that sometimes the modern style has appeared without its original purposes, its most strict aspects and its technical conditions. The modern style one can see in those buildings is more attached to the appearance of modern architecture than to its essence.
