This paper presents a workflow management system specification according to a component-based development approach, following the Catalysis method. The specification results from research projects within the context of the ExPSEE environment. This environment, specific for software processes, was extended to enclose features of workflow managers. Based on the architecture and on the proposed components, workflow managers of general or specific purposes can be designed. Thus, the results presented in this paper contribute to present an evolution of the models and architectures proposed by WfMC, in UML; to show how the Catalysis development process was designed in a commercial tool (Rational Rose); and to present reusable components to the context of workflow managers.Downloads
