Abstract

The amount of subsamples was determined in the line and interlineations to form a composed sample after the soy crop, under no-tillage for 9 years, in an oxisol red Latosol, loamy texture, in São Miguel do Iguaçu, state of Paraná, Brazil. The collection instrument was the screw auger and the subsamples depth was of 0-15 cm. Considering a 90% variability and a 10% mean error, the results evidenced that: a) the variability in fertility attributes was low for pH, H+Al, Ca and Mg, on the average for K, MO, Fe and Cu and high for P, Zn and Mn; b) 20 subsamples in the line and 13 subsamples in the interlineation were necessary to represent the fertility parameters and nutrients excluding P and Mn; c) soil samples collected with screw auger make the variability high in results due to the smaller soil quantity, requiring a greater number of subsamples.
