Abstract

The maintenance of the vegetal covering in soil surface is the main limiting factor for NTS adoption in the north of the State of São Paulo, Brazil. Aiming to ease the NT system implantation in the region, an experiment was conducted in subdivided parcels, with main treatments represented by sunnhemp, millet and consortium, in the beginning of the rainy station and with secondary treatments in factorial (3 x 4), with 3 N rates in the sowing and 4 N top-dressed rates, in the following culture of corn. Positive effects of vegetal covering in corn yield were verified using both sunnhemp (9660 kg ha-1) and millet (9806 kg ha-1), interacting significantly with N rates. The N growing rates provided positive effects in corn yield after millet and, in a lesser scale, after millet + sunnhemp; and negative effects after sunnhemp
