Abstract

With the purpose of selecting sweet-potato cultivars adapted to the environmental conditions of Campos de Goytacazes, RJ, four experiments were carried out under field conditions. The experimental design was of randomized blocks with fourteen treatments (cultivars) and three replications, each plot six useful plants. Production stability and adaptability were evaluated by productivity and number of marketable roots per treatment. The methodologies of Plaisted and Peterson (1959), Lin and Binns (1988) and Kang (1988) were used for the analysis of phenotypic stability. Based on these methodologies, access BAG 217 (WON-B crop) revealed to be promising for further evaluations aiming to recommend cultivars of crops for Campos de Goytacazes, RJ, because it shows superior productivity and production stability besides holding desirable marketable characteristics
