Abstract

Considering the necessity to search more efficient techniques to produce peach tree rootstocks in nursery, this trial was carried out aiming at evaluating the capacity of two semihardwood cutting roots (with or without leaves) of Okinawa peach through the application of three dosages of IBA (0.00; 1.000 and 2.000 mg L-1) by fast immersion of the base of the cuttings. Cuttings with approximately 15 cm of length were used, collected on April of 2004. The cuttings were placed in plastic boxes containing carbonized rice hull in a mist chamber during 56 days when the evaluation was done. A randomized 2-factor design (3 dosages of IBA and 2 types of cutting) and 5 replications, with each plot composed by 10 cuttings were used. The effect of the factors (types of dosages of IBA and cutting) was evaluated. Results showed that: a) there was not a significant interaction between the types of cutting and dosages of IBA; b) there was an increase of all evaluated parameters when the cuttings were submitted to the dosages of AIB, being the dosage of 2.000 mg L-1 the one which resulted in higher percentage of cutting root and fresh and dry mass of roots; c) cuttings without leaves showed higher mortality of cuttings and greater number of roots per cutting.
