Abstract

Common bean is cultivated using different technological levels, with diverse cropping systems and under a wide range of edaphic and climatic conditions in Santa Catarina, Brazil. Significant presence of genotype-environment interaction has been verified. Analyses of adaptability and stability are important to obtain complementary information of the common bean cultivars value tests, in relation to cultivars evaluation bulletins. The aim of the present study was to evaluate genotype-environment interaction of yield grain, in a 24 common bean genotypes set in Santa Catarina State. Phenotypic adaptability and stability analyses were carried out by the method of Wricke (1965), Lin and Binns (1988) and Annicchiarico (1992). The genotype-environment interaction was significant (P < 0.05). According to Annicchiarico method, the mean value estimate of CH 90-1535 line was 8.2% bigger than the mean value over all environments, with probability level corresponding to a 75%, which is the genotype with greatest reliability. Based on this method, CP 96-72 is also a promising genotype. In relation to Lin and Binns approach, the genotypes with the greatest stability were CH 90-1535 and LP 94-1 lines. For Wricke method, AN 91-22590, LP 96-72 and CH 90-1535 lines were the most promising genotypes. Regarding the methods used, LP 96-72 and CH 90-1535 lines can be useful for future common bean plantations in Santa Catarina State.
