Abstract

In order to evaluate the germination percentage, Tillandsia geminiflora Brongn, seeds were sown in different materials: carbonized rice husks (CRH), dickosonia fern (Dickosonia sellowiana Hook), sawdust and black nylon screen (with 80% shading). They were fixed by the plume or the seed itself. The highest germination percentage (76%) was obtained by the plume-fixed seeds on black nylon screen. In order to evaluate their survival rate, the plantlets were distributed in the following substrates: 1) CRH; 2) dickosonia fern; 3) saw dust; 4) Savinia auriculata Aubl; 5) CRH (50%) + Salvinia (50%); 6) CRH (50%) + sawdust (50%); 7) CRH (50%)+ dickosonia fern (50%); 8) Salvinia (50%) + sawdust (50%); 9) Salvinia (50%) + dickosonia fern (50%); 10) sawdust (50%)+ dickosonia fern (50%). Treatments 3 and 6 showed the highest plantlet survival rates, respectively 78.5% and 62.5%.
