Abstract

IAC Carioca Eté cultivar is evaluated with regard to soil and water management and nitrogen split application, during the winter, in Selvíria MS, Brazil. Randomized completely block design, in split-split plot scheme, with subplots in strips, with four replications, was used. Plots consisted of three soil management systems: harrow disk, chisel plough and no-tillage system. Three water levels (L1 = 0.75L2, L2 = water level based in Kcs, recommended by Doorenbos & Kassan (1979) and L3 = 1.25L2), applied through a sprinkler system, constituted the subplots and four nitrogen split application: 0- 75, 25-50, 50-25, and 75-0 kg ha-1 applied at sowing time and side dressing, respectively, formed the subsubplots. Soil management with harrow disk provided highest grain yield when compared to no-tillage system. However, it did not differ from chisel plough treatment. Bean crop failed to show yield reduction, even when crop coefficient 25% lower than recommended to water replace in this specific crop was used. Total nitrogen applied in side dressing provided the highest grain yield.
