Determination of the best period for crossing snap bean <em>Phaseolus vulgaris</em> L. in Londrina PR Brazil
Abstract
With the objective of increasing the efficiency of artificial crossings in the program of snap bean, Phaseolus vulgaris (Leguminosae-Faboideae) improvement at Londrina State University, Londrina PR Brazil, a study was accomplished to determine the best period of the day and the best time of the year to accomplish such technique. Artificial hybridization technique involved emasculation of the anthers followed by pollination. Crossings were accomplished in the months of September 1992 and June 1993, in the schedules of 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The 3:00 p.m. schedule and September stood out with a higher total number of grainsDownloads
