Comparison between evaluation methods of bean cultivars adaptability and stability
Abstract
This study compares evaluation methods of cultivar adaptability and stability in bean production (Phaseolus vulgaris). Two different groups of methods were used: the first based on simple linear regressions by Finlay and Wilkinson (1963), Eberhart and Russell (1966) and Tai (1971); and the second based on non-linear regressions by Verma et al. (1978) and Cruz et al. (1989). The results showed contradictions between Finlay and Wilkinson’s method and the others, but showed perfect correlafion between Eberhart and Russell’s method and Tai’s. The method of Cruz et al. showed to be more adequate, than the one of Verma et al. All the methods, except Finlay and Wilkinson’s, led to the same results as for cultivars adaptability and stability.Downloads
