Abstract

This research was carried out aiming to verify the behavior of camu-camu seeds in their germination, according to imbibition periods. The seeds were extracted from ripe fruits of old plants. The treatments consisted of six preimbibition periods: 0, 4, 8, 12, 24 and 36 hours. After each period, the seeds were placed in gerbox, having vermiculite as substrate. They were maintained in a temperature of 25oC, in a germination chamber (BOD type). For each treatment, 4 replications with 25 seeds in each one were accomplished. Daily evaluations of the number of germinated seeds were done. The data were grouped weekly and they were transformed in arc sen x / 100 . The means were compared by the Tukey test (5% probability). Results showed that the germination of camu-camu seeds is not influenced by the imbibition, as well as by the period of this treatment.
