Performance of growing rabbits fed with different levels of recovery yeast (<em>Saccharomyces sp</em>) dried by spray-dry in diets containing or not fumaric acid
Abstract
The aim of this experiment was to study the performance of rabbits fed with diets containing crescent levels of recovery yeast (Saccharomyces sp), dried by spray-dry, replacing the crude protein of soybean meal in diets contaning or no fumaric acid. One hundred 40-day-old White New Zeland rabbits, 50 males and 50 females were utilized and distributed in a completely randomized design with 10 treatments and 5 repetitions of two animals per experimental unit in a 5X2 (five levels of yeast, 0%, 8%, 12%, 16% and 20% and two levels of fumaric acid 0% and 2% factorial scheme). In the period from 40 to 70 days, there was a linear effect of the inclusion of recovery yeast on daily consumption. Moreover, there was a linear effect on feed conversion of the animals that received diet with crescent levels of recovery yeast containing 2% fumaric acid. The results showed that during the total period of the 40-90-day experiment none of these performance characteristics was affected by inclusion of recovery yeast in diets containing or not 2% fumaric acid.Downloads
