<b>Evaluation of energy requirement models for laying hens</b> - DOI: 10.4025/actascianimsci.v27i3.1204
Abstract
This work aimed to evaluate the ME requirement models in feeding programs for laying hens. A hundred ninety Lohmann LSL from 30 to 45 weeks of age were randomly distributed into four treatments and six replications, with eight birds each. The treatments consisted in: T1 – ad libitum feeding, T2 – controlled feeding according to Lohmann recommendation, T3 – feeding according to model: ME1= W0,75 (165.74 – 2.37T) + 6.68WG + 2.4E; ME2 = W0,75 (163.67 – 2.09T) + 6.68WG + 2.4E, being ME daily energy requirements (kcal/bird/day), W body weight (kg), WG weight gain (g), E eggs mass (g) and T ambient temperature (oC). The laying hens fed according to models showed lower energy intake; however, the birds had body weight similar to “ad libitum feeding. This treatment also promoted better feed and energetic conversion. It may be concluded that the models were accurate to predict energy requirementsDownloads
