Utilization of a threshold model in the estimation of the resistance heredity from the ovines to the endoparasites - DOI: 10.4025/actascianimsci.v25i1.2135
Abstract
Information about the number of eggs per feces gram (EPG), from 95 crossbred sheep, Bergamácia x Corriedale and Hampshire Down x Corriedale, and of 163 lambs, offprinting of crossbred dams with 4 rams Texel was collected between July 1998 and August 2000. The resistance data were obtained being attributed 0 (zero) if EPG ≤ 500 and 1 (one) if EPG > 500, in case where the animal was drenched. The resistance information was analyzed by Bayesian methods. The posterior mean estimated for heredity or the resistance to endoparasites was of 0.08. The low heredity estimated in this work evidences that low genetic variation exists for resistance against the endoparasites in the group of animals studied, what would disable the implementation of an improvement program seeking the obtaining of resistant lineages to endoparasites.Downloads
