Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the hematological response and clinical sign of Piaractus mesopotamicus infected by Aeromonas hydrophila. Were used 324 pacus, Piaractus mesopotamicus weighing 102.84 ± 27.1 g distributed in 27 tanks with 300 L of capacity, 14 fish per tank. The fish were kept in the tanks during one month, receiving appropriate diet. In this period was avoid stressing management. After this period, the fish were infected with 6 × 10⁸ CFU of A. hydrophila/fish, injected intraperitoneally. The blood collection was carried 24 h before experimental infection and 24 hours after its. The A. hydrophila infection in P. mesopotamicus is characterized by dark skin and clinical signs related to hemorrhage, hypochromic normocytic anemia, decrease on plasmatic proteins and globulins levels, leucopenia, lymphopenia, thrombocytopenia, eosinophilia, neutrophilia and monocytosis.

Fabiana Garcia concluiu o mestrado em Aquicultura de águas continentais pelo Centro de Aquicultura da Unesp em 2005. Cursa doutorado em aquicultura de águas continentais pelo Centro de Aquicultura da Unesp desde 2005. Atualmente é pesquisadora científica da Agência Paulista de Tecnologia dos Agronegócios. Publicou 3 artigos em periódicos especializados e 31 trabalhos em anais de eventos. Participou de 14 eventos no Brasil. Recebeu 1 prêmio e/ou homenagem. Atua na área de Recursos Pesqueiros e Engenharia de Pesca, com ênfase em Recursos Pesqueiros de Águas Interiores.
