Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the process quality and the care result offered to pregnant women. 76 interviews were carried out with pregnant women admitted in hospitals as well as a search on the medical records in the Integrated Health Nucleus (IHN) and private clinics. The normal delivery added 16% and the caesarian operations 84%, 60% were appointed in advance and 7 children were born with low weight. Medical records, result registers or exams carried out by the pregnant women were not found. The majority (60%) did the prenatal program in private doctor’s office and the register procedures carried out by professionals were slightly different from the ones found in the IHN. The women had little information on contraceptive methods, preventive exams, antitetanus immunization, and yet, they did not carry the prenatal attendance card
